Gotham Girls Roller Derby took home first place over Rocky Mountain Rollergirls in a tough, hard-fought battle for the last game of the 2103 WFTDA D1 Playoffs in Asheville, North Carolina. Rocky Mountain fought until the very end, even picking up lead jammer on the last jam, but fell to Gotham 216-99.

Despite incredibly tough defenses and slow walls, it was penalties that won the game for Windy City Rollers of the Minnesota RollerGirls in game 16. Windy City’s strong defense forced a critical track cut on the last jam of the game and they held on to win 160-154 over Minnesota.

In what started and ended as a close game, Steel City Roller Derby, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, came back from a huge point deficit to narrowly defeat Houston Roller Derby, of Houston, Texas.

Game 14 of the 2013 WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs in Asheville, North Carolina, was a rematch of game 1, between the Nashville Rollergirls, of Nashville, Tennessee, and the Oklahoma Victory Dolls of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Penalties once again played a big role as did the incredibly fast-paced packs. Nashville put up a good fight, but Oklahoma was once again victorious with a 131-200 score.

The battle for 9th Place in the 2013 WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs Asheville started off with a back and forth point struggle, but the Columbia Quad Squad, of Columbia, South Carolina, soon found themselves in extreme penalty trouble as the Mad Rollin’ Dolls of Madison, Wisconsin, racked up the points.
