Oly (#1W) advances after 218 to 125 win over Minnesota (#2NC)

Powerhouse Oly Rollers (West #1) took on Minnesota RollerGirls (North Central #2 NC) in a matchup that many expected to be heavily lopsided in Oly’s favor. Minnesota worked as a team and played a relatively clean game to give Oly a run for their money in the first half, but Oly came back to claim a sizeable victory.
Bout 8: Texas Rollergirls vs Bay Area Derby Girls

Texas (SC #1) recovers to hold off Bay Area (West #3)

A little coffee and a dynamite matchup between B.ay A.rea D.erby Girls (West #3) and Texas Rollergirls (South Central #1) gave everyone the morning bracer they needed at the Georgia World Congress Center Saturday. Texas overcame a sizeable lead to knock Bay Area out of the tournament.
Bout 2: Atlanta Rollergirls vs Naptown Roller Girls

Naptown (NC #3) narrowly upsets Atlanta (SC #2)

The final bout of Day 1 of WFTDA Championships Grits and Glory featured tournament hosts Atlanta Rollergirls (SC #2) against Naptown Roller Girls (NC #3). Atlanta, backed by their hometown fans, spent the first eight jams holding Naptown scoreless, with Atlanta jammer Nora Gretz capitalizing on an early power jam with 24 points.
Bout 4: B.ay A.rea D.erby Girls vs Philly Roller Girls

Bay Area (West #3) upsets Philly (East #2)

The third bout of the day brought the weekend’s first upset, as the #3 West seed, B.ay A.rea D.erby Girls, was able to overcome the tough challenge of the Philly Roller Girls (East #2).
