The eighth-seeded Jacksonville RollerGirls jumped out to an early 20-0 lead against #6 seed No Coast Derby Girls, of Lincoln, Nebraska, and held onto the lead the entire game. The team from Jacksonville, Florida – fresh off a narrow loss in Game 1 Friday – seemed to have shaken the problems that landed their jammers in the penalty box the day before. The Jacksonville jammers spent only 6 minutes in the penalty box, with most of those penalties coming late in the game, compared to No Coast jammers’ 9 minutes in the penalty box. Jacksonville defeated the Nebraska team, 213-125.

Angel City Derby Girls (#5, seed #1), of Los Angeles, California, went up against New Hampshire Roller Derby (#37, seed #9), of Nashua, New Hampshire, to finish day one of the WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs Richmond. New Hampshire earned lead jammer status in several first-half jams, but in the second half, Angel City’s defense shut down New Hampshire jammers, holding them to two points total in 10 consecutive jams. The West Coast team defeated New Hampshire, 205-77.

Returning to postseason play for the eighth consecutive year, the Texas Rollergirls (#6, seed #2), of Austin, Texas, took on the Terminal City Rollergirls (#38, seed #10), of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Terminal City – in its first appearance in post-season tournament play – put up a good fight against Texas, the team that earned the first WFTDA Championship title in 2006. But Texas came away with a 377-125 win.

The Naptown Roller Girls (#13, #3 seed), of Indianapolis, Indiana, defeated No Coast Derby Girls (#22, #6 seed), of Lincoln, Nebraska, in a contest that began with several early lead changes. Ultimately, Naptown’s solid teamwork and jamming – along with No Coast’s penalty minutes – resulted in 206-144 victory for the Tornado Sirens.

Longtime heavyweights Philly Roller Girls (#14, #4 seed), of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and 2007 WFTDA Champions Kansas City Roller Warriors (#21, #5 seed), of Kansas City, Missouri, faced off in Game 3 of the 2013 WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs Richmond. Both teams exhibited killer defense and smart, tenacious jamming, but Philly took the lead early on and held onto it the entire game, beating the Kansas City All-Stars, 261-225.
