Arch Rival sustains win over Wasatch

The final game of Saturday night saw the team from St. Louis, Arch Rival Roller Girls taking on Wasatch Roller Derby from Salt Lake City, Utah to determine who would play the Rose City Rollers for 5th place tomorrow. The Arch Rival Roller Girls took the lead in the first jam and, with a minor blip 15 minutes in, they never relinquished their advantage on the scoreboard, finishing the game 235-154.

Rose City to play for fifth after win over Cincinnati

Rose City Rollers from Portland Oregon, fresh off of their win against Grand Raggidy Roller Girls in the morning, took on the Cincinnati Rollergirls from Cincinnati, Ohio and secured their spot in the fifth place game tomorrow at 2pm with a score of 414-116. While Cincinnati adapted throughout the bout, the team from Portland just proved too strong for the Ohio team.

Ohio pulls second upset win over Montreal

Sixth seed Ohio Roller Girls from Columbus, Ohio were looking to repeat their upsetting ways of last night when they took on 2 seed, Montreal Roller Derby, on Day 2. The two teams have not met on the track since 2009, when Ohio snuck past Montreal winning 102-98. Ohio managed to prove that they belong in anyone’s list of top WFTDA teams, beating Montreal 212-149 and securing a place in the 2013 WFTDA Championships, November 8th-10th in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Denver nabs first spot in Championships, London to play for third seed

The (1) Denver Roller Dolls from Denver, Colorado faced off against the (4) London Rollergirls from London, UK for the first time in WFTDA history on Day 2 of 2013 WFTDA D1 Playoffs in Fort Wayne. The first place seed was not particularly challenged by their game against the Cincinnati Rollergirls on Day 1, but playing 4 Seed London Brawling would not prove as easy, as the intercontinental visitors know how to keep a game exciting until the end. They put up a tough fight, but Denver secured their spot in the 2013 WFTDA Championships.

Bleeding Heartland Rollergirls, the 9 seed from Bloomington, Indiana, were looking to improve on their previous performance earlier this year against third seed, Arch Rival Roller Girls from St. Louis, Missouri in today’s 12 pm bout. The team from Indiana had lost to Arch Rival earlier in the season to the tune of 251-189. While they had moments of greatness, Bleeding Heartland wasn’t playing consistently well and Arch took the game with a commanding score of 347-121.
