Denver Roller Derby and Bay Area Derby Girls played each other once this season at the Hometown Throwdown in Portland, where Denver beat BAD, 168-144. The result of this game was a near inversion of the last time they met at the 2014 International WFTDA Championships. In 2014 Bay Area defeated Denver 169-130, though Bay Area’s roster has undergone major changes since then.

Angel City Derby Girls and Rat City Rollergirls faced each other in June last season where Angel City won 250-79. This time, Angel City comes into the game as the number 2 seed from Playoffs in Omaha with a current WFTDA ranking of 6. Rat City finished 3rd in Dallas and is ranked 12th in the WFTDA. While Flat Track Stats predicts an almost certain win going to Angel City, Rat City proved in Dallas that they should not be underestimated.

As announced earlier this year, WFTDA membership approved extra games at Championships for Division 2 teams, so the weekend of November 6-8 in Saint Paul, Minnesota will be the first time D2 teams will get to play two games at the big show, and play for proper placement like the Division 1 teams do. The #1 seed from each D2 playoff will take on the #2 seed from the other tournament starting at 10am CST on the first day of Champs. The teams will get a day off and then play for placement on Sunday, starting at 12pm CST.
