The last game of 2012 North Central Region Playoffs Day 2 was between Madison, Wisconsin's Mad Rollin' Dolls (#10) and the Detroit Derby Girls (#6). The two teams might look different but had similar playing styles: tight defensive play, heavy cycling hits, and when the pack wasn’t stopped, it moved super fast.

Fans were hoping for a tight game. This was the battle bout; the one that decided who else besides Windy City and Minnesota was going to the 2012 WFTDA Championships in Atlanta, Georgia, in November.

The battle for first place started at 6 p.m. sharp on Sunday, culminating an intense, exciting and fun tournament both on the track and off. The last time the Windy City Rollers, of Chicago, (#1) and Minnesota RollerGirls, of St. Paul, (#2) met on the track, the game ended in the first ever WFTDA tie. Both teams were intent on that first place position.

Brewcity (#9) and Arch Rival (#4) dished up the first game of the tournament that had more lead changes than jammer penalties. The teams met in what turned out to be a nail-biter in the third consolation bout of the WFTDA North Central Region Playoffs in Niagara Falls, NY.

In the second consolation bout of the North Central Region Playoffs, Arch Rival (#4) met Cincinnati Rollergirls (#7) on the track. The consolation games determine the full 5 through 10 rankings at the end of the tournament. The more you win, the higher your ranking.
