Gotham (#1) wins 2012 East Region Playoffs

The final bout of the 2012 East Region Playoffs brought the classic East Region rematch between the Philly Roller Girls (#2), of Philadelphia, and Gotham Girls Roller Derby (#1), of New York. The teams were again competing for the title of East Region champions and the all-important #1 seed for the WFTDA Championship tournament.

Bout 16: Charm City Roller Girls vs London Rollergirls

Charm City Roller Girls (#4) advance to Championships with a win over the London Rollergirls (#6)

The London Rollergirls (#6) came into their final bout of the East Region Playoffs hoping to be the first European team to advance to the WFTDA Championships. However, the Charm City Roller Girls (#4), of Baltimore, Maryland, were not willing to give up their third shot at the international title.

In the battle for fifth place Montreal's New Skids on the Block (#3), Montreal, Quebec met the DC All Stars on the track in a game that was almost a demonstration of “meat and potatoes” roller derby.

Bout 13: Steel City Derby Demons vs Dutchland Derby Rollers

Steel City (#5) defeats Dutchland (#10) but falls to #9 in the East

Steel City Derby Demons (#5), Pittsburgh, PA and Dutchland Derby Rollers (#9), Lancaster, PA met on the track Sunday morning for the bout that would decide 9th and 10th place in the WFTDA's East region.
