Q&A

What's one little-known fact about Tampa?
We sing and do circus acts in our locker room before (and sometimes after) bouts. A popular quote for our team has become, "I didn't know I joined Roller Glee."

Who should we watch out for on the track during your appearance at the 2012 Playoffs and why?
Little A and Lunch Lady are both huge threats, whether they're blocking or jamming. We have some new additions since participating in playoffs last year, but the team is really well-rounded: we're hoping our teamwork will be what stands out, because we work hard at playing together and have a lot of heart.

What's your travel team's most memorable derby moment?
Looking back over many memorable moments, the best ones are all examples of teamwork. So here is one of our favorites: In the middle of playing Atlanta, one of our players lost a contact lens just as the jam started. She found the contact but it had been ripped in two. Since she didn't have her back-up contacts with her and can barely see without them, another Tantrum, without a second though, took a contact out of her eye to give to her. She put the contact in and both skaters continued to bout.

Who is the Tantrums’ biggest rival?
Tampa and Nashville have a longstanding rivalry, and they are Tampa's first bout at SC regionals.

Is there a fun fact about your coaching staff that you'd like to share?
Coach Shirley N Sane is in the Roller Skating Hall of Fame, which happens to be in Lincoln, NE, where South Central Playoffs are taking place. Bench Coach Candy Korn once changed out a player's broken truck during an official timeout, while that skater was in the penalty box.
