Q&A

Does your league have a motto, or words that it lives by? What is it / what are they? What does it mean to your league?
Our league motto is "Real Women, Real Hits, Real Heart". It is pretty self explanatory, we are every day women who take our contact sport seriously.

Do you have a mascot? If so, what's its name? And will the mascot be with you at Playoffs? Do you have any special cheers for any of your skaters?
Our team mascot will hopefully join us for playoffs! We have a replica of the CN Tower (the landmark building our team name is a play on), who follows us from city to city cheering us on!

Has your league experienced any retirements, transfers or injuries in the past year that have made a substantial difference in your league’s play and performance?
2013 was the biggest year for our league in terms of accepting transfer skaters. We accepted more skaters from other leagues - at all skill levels - this year than ever before. Every time a transfer skater joins the league she inspires and pushes the rest of our league to improve. It reminds everyone that they need to push themselves to get better, and get better to maintain their roster spot. Two skaters who have helped push our A and B travel teams to new heights are Team Canada 2011 skaters Motorhead Molly and Rainbow Fight.

What was the turning point for your league to make it to a playoff this season? Was there a BIG WIN that pushed your team over the edge?
It was a combination of wins and losses. We had been working hard to perform well against our closely ranked competition in hopes of more highly ranked and Division 1 teams gaining an interest to play us. This season we got to play some of the best teams out there. We had some important wins this season but it was more our performance against the highest ranked teams we played, and lost to, that allowed us to prove ourselves worthy of a division one spot.

How have your practices changed since being named one of the teams to make it to the 2013 Playoffs?
More endurance. Intensifying what we have been working on all year. Harder off-skates practices and more dedication!

Real. Strong. Athletic. Revolutionary.
