Does your league have a motto, or words that it lives by? What is it / what are they? What does it mean to your league?
The team cheer is “Feel the Rhythm, Feel the Rhyme, Get On Up It’s Derby Time”. What it means is that we are not like everyone else and we’re proud of that. We are intense, focused, have courage and ownership, but also maintaining our individuality and quirkiness so we can enjoy our precious time together playing this great sport.
Do you have a mascot? If so, what's its name? And will the mascot be with you at Playoffs? Do you have any special cheers for any of your skaters?
Our mascot is named Pinchy, and he’s a lobster!
Many of our skaters do have special cheers!
Ginger Kid: Thumbs up and “She’s just a kid!”
Shark Week: “CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP” and making a chomping motion with your arms
Maya Mangleyou: “Maaaaaaaanggggggglllle”
Craisy Dukes: “Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuukes” in a low voice, it almost sounds like booing.
Bad Person & Dixie Kicks: “Beeps and Kicks! Kicks and Beeps!”
Anna Wrecksya: “B-F-F! B-F-F!”
Flyin King: Sing “Circle of Life” from the Lion King
Lil' Paine: "Bring the Paine!" while holding your fist in the air
Justin: “HE’S A LAWYER!” when he’s talking to the refs.
Has your league experienced any retirements, transfers or injuries in the past year that have made a substantial difference in your league’s play and performance?
We have some new players who have definitely added to the team experience and skill--Flyin King from Mass Attack Roller Derby and, long time New England vet, Craisy Dukes from Providence.
What was the turning point for your league to make it to a playoff this season? Was there a BIG WIN that pushed your team over the edge?
While not our biggest wins in points, our last three games have been huge for our confidence, teamwork, game play, and training. For the first time since 2008, we won both of our games at East Coast Derby Extravaganza this year (Houston 179-156 & Tampa 197-128). We had already qualified for Playoffs, but our July 27th game against Detroit was arguably one of the greatest games in Massacre history--our biggest upset, extremely clean, fantastic execution, and incredible loyalty.
Real. Strong. Athletic. Revolutionary.
