Taking the lead in the last jam of the game with just a 3-point win, the Victorian Roller Derby league of Melbourne, Australia, snatched First Place and a first round bye at Championships from the grasp of Angel City Derby Girls, of Los Angeles. The dramatic final game capped a weekend full of fierce competition and surprising performances at the 2016 International WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs in Vancouver, B.C., Canada.

Three more teams punched their tickets to Portland during the 2016 International WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs in Columbia, South Carolina, USA. The Rose City Rollers of Portland, Oregon, secured their spot in the 2016 International WFTDA Championships, which the league is also hosting, with a semifinal win over the Atlanta Rollergirls. They finished the tournament in first place, defeating Denver Roller Derby 250-137 and earning a first-round bye at Champs.

The London Rollergirls (London, United Kingdom) fended off a fierce challenge from the Texas Rollergirls (Austin, Texas) to take First Place in the 2016 International WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs in Montréal, Québec, Canada. Both teams will advance to the 2016 International WFTDA Championships on Nov. 4-6 in Portland, Oregon, but London will get a first-round bye due to taking the top spot at the Montréal tournament.

The second weekend of WFTDA Division 2 tournament games kept fans and skaters on the edge of their seats. Following in Wichita’s footsteps, the 2016 International WFTDA D2 Playoffs in Lansing, Michigan, USA served up a good deal of final-jam wins and seeding upsets. The top-seeded teams were knocked out of contention and the #5 and #7 seed teams rocketed up to earn two spots in the D2 bracket at the 2016 International WFTDA Championships.
