Chicago Outfit Roller Derby of Chicago, Illinois (#6), challenged the Sacred City Derby Girls of Sacramento, California (#2), in Game 12 of the 2015 International WFTDA Division 2 Playoffs, and Chicago hoped for an upset like they gave Emerald City (#3) in Game 3 on Friday. But the upset was not to be, as Sacred City secured their trip to Championships in St. Paul, Minnesota,. on Nov. 8 to play for the D2 Championship, which will be shown on ESPN3.

Bear City Roller Derby of Berlin, Germany, didn’t make the cross-ocean trip to the 2015 International WFTDA Division 2 Playoffs Detroit lightly -- they came to win and show the world what international derby can do. And they did, picking up their second win of the weekend over the Emerald City Roller Girls of Eugene, Oregon, in a battle of strategy and derby game just as much as a battle of skill and endurance.

The Midnight Terror of Wasatch Roller Derby (#5) used clean skating and double-digit point-scoring power jams to defeat the skaters from Sac City (#8) in Game 10 of the 2015 International WFTDA Division 2 Playoffs.

Two first-game winners. Two former D1 teams. Two teams named NRG. But only one could move on to tomorrow’s first-place game and a guaranteed spot in the 2015 International WFTDA Championships -- and that NRG is the Nashville Rollergirls of Nashville, Tenn., as they toppled the Naptown Roller Girls of Indianapolis, Ind., for the first time in the teams’ history in what Nashville jammer Lady Fury referred to as “a nine-year grudge match.”

Emerald City Roller Girls (#3) of Eugene, Oregon, played with a looming haze of penalties in the first period of Game 8 of the 2015 International WFTDA Division 2 Playoffs against the Brewcity Bruisers (#9) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but the ladies in green managed to fight past the haze to defeat Brewcity.
