With the kinds of hits that make the crowd gasp, Dallas Derby Devils (#6) battled against the Sun State Roller Girls of Brisbane, Australia (#7) in Game 11 on Saturday evening, each team hoping to clinch a spot in the fifth place game on Sunday. The tournament hosts had training sessions in the previous season with the Victorian Roller Derby League of Melbourne, Australia (WFTDA, #3), and they used what they learned from the women of Melbourne, to take the win from the Sun State skaters in a closely contested nail-biter.

Following the battle of the Pacific Northwest was the Battle of Sweden as 5th seed Stockholm Roller Derby from Stockholm, Sweden took on 8th Crime City Rollers from Malmö, Sweden. These teams have played each other four times already with Stockholm taking the win in three of those games. This time, however, would be different with Stockholm having already played a game this morning and having only eleven skaters at the 2015 International WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs Dallas. Crime City took the win 224-118 but took the victory lap intermingled with their fellow Swedes to the delight of the crowd here in Dallas.

The pride of the Pacific Northwest was subject to a fierce battle today as number one seed, Rose City Rollers, from Portland, OR, USA took on the fourth seed, Rat City Rollergirls from Seattle, WA, USA, at the 2015 International WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs Dallas. The teams have a long history of playing intense games against each other and this was not one to disappoint. Rat City has lost all but one game to their Oregon counterparts leading up to today, the most recent being a 179-96 loss in July. Rose City booked their ticket to the 2015 International WFTDA Championships with a win against their Washington opponents, 287-150.

Dallas Derby Devils’ Army of Darkness (#6) looked like they had all the momentum from Game 6, bottled and ready to plow through Ohio Roller Girls (#9) in Game 8 of Day 2 of the 2015 International WFTDA Division 1 Playoff in Dallas, Tex. Ohio wasn’t so easily defeated, though, as the jamming from The Smacktivist from Ohio had the Dallas blocking team on high alert.
Real. Strong. Athletic. Revolutionary.
