After a six-hour break form their morning victory, Rocky Mountain Rollergirls (#5) started slowly against the Angel City Derby Girls (#8). With Chica Go Lightning's 16-point power jam in the ninth, Angel City established a lead against the 5280 Fight Club. The ladies from Los Angeles held on to their lead until a jammer switch-out in the sixteenth jam, followed by a penalty kill in the eighteenth. Rocky Mountain's Casstrator, assisted by a full pack of blockers, scored 29 points, blowing Angel City's lead far out into the Bay.
And just like the fog rolls into San Francisco, obscuring the view of the Golden Gate Bridge, Rocky Mountain clung to the lead for the entirety of the game, keeping Angel City's hopes for victory dim. The half ended with Rocky Mountain ahead 90-54.
The second half of the bout featured two power jams for Angel City, but they weren't enough to bridge the gap, even with Cris Dobbins's 27-point jam. Rocky kept Angel City to single digit points for the remainder of the bout. Likewise, Rocky's prowess at nabbing lead jammer, with assists by blockers Assaultin' Pepa and Amanda Jamitinya, made securing the win that much more of a foregone conclusion.
Rocky Mountain advances to play the winner of Bout 12 on Sunday at 2 p.m. for 5th Place, and Angel City will play the loser of Bout 12 for seventh place.
