Q&A

Have there been any notable roster changes since your last Playoffs appearance?
Ms Dfiant and Gogo Gidget retired after the 2011 West Region Playoffs. Brawl Stanley also stepped down mid-season due to life and sustained injuries. Silent DisAshter passed away this summer and we miss her very much.

We gained a number of transfers this season too, though, namely: B-Train, Wrecky, and Krissy Krash transferred from OC Rollergirls; Eduskating Rita from Hammer City Rollergirls; and Fifi Nomenon, Cris Dobbins, and Mickispeedia from the LA Derby Dolls.

Who should we watch out for on the track during your appearance at the 2012 West Region Playoffs and why?
Watch for our love, respect, and passion for roller derby and the women who play this sport. We, like every team out there, are so grateful to be a part of [Playoffs] this year and it is evident in the way we play and [how we] enjoy every moment of game play. Every skater on our team is a piece to our puzzle, an ingredient in the recipe.

What are some game highlights from the Hollywood Scarlets’ 2012 season?
Our game against Victorian Roller Derby League was incredible--our first time playing a team from outside the US and they are awesome. We were proud to take 2nd place at Dust Devil in Tucson after taking on Rocky Mountain Rollergirls. We beat Sacred City Derby Girls in May after a long history of losing to them by small margins. Another proud moment for us was playing Rat City Rollergirls and staying within 5 points of them for the first 43 minutes of the game.

Who's the Hollywood Scarlets’ biggest rival?
At the moment we would say Sacred City is our biggest rival. Our bouts against Sacred tend to be extremely hard fought and close, exciting for both the skaters and the fans. And, yes, there is a possibility that we will play them [at Playoffs], depending on how the bracket works out!

What's the most interesting thing about Los Angeles?
The people that move to Los Angeles, and the people that find derby. People who move to LA come for such a wide variety of reasons and in such varied industries because we literally have EVERYTHING in this city. We are such an interesting and eclectic league of women from all walks of life!

Real. Strong. Athletic. Revolutionary.
