The Boston Derby Dames have had to deal with practice space issues that are familiar to many roller derby leagues. Recently, they have been able to work with their city to resurrect a community asset, and earned themselves a new practice space in the process. The Golden Girls of roller derby may struggle with finding a venue, but they don't struggle when it comes to winning fans! While derby leagues pop up around them, this team still has quite a trip “across the pond” to play other WFTDA leagues. As the first league from outside North America to be accepted into the WFTDA, the London Rollergirls are getting used to adding “firsts” to their record books, including recently hosting the first WFTDA tournament held outside the U.S. in April 2011. These derby girls are a lot like the beautiful and tough "Hester", the amazing Dutch frau in their logo. Working hard at making their second trip to the 2011 East Region Playoff Tournament, they are taking out the competition left and right. They are currently ranked 10th in the WFTDA Eastern Region, and have cracked the DNN Power Ranking's top 25. You might recognize them because of their neon green uniforms with the iconic Knoxville Sunsphere prominently displayed in their logo, but you'll always remember them after you get a chance to see them play. This 503(c) organization is making things happen in big ways with less than 30 skaters in their membership.
