Gotham Girls Roller Derby Wins Sacramento Playoffs

WFTDA tournament season resumed in Sacramento, California, USA, this weekend with the first round of the international 2014 WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs. Despite strong challenges from their opponents, Gotham Girls Roller Derby, of New York, New York, USA, maintained their multi-year undefeated streak and advanced to the international 2014 WFTDA Championships as a 1 seed. Gotham are the reigning WFTDA Champions, having won the title three years in a row.

Rideau Valley Wins Division 2 Playoffs in Kitchener-Waterloo

Much like the majority of games held over the course of the weekend, the 1st Place game at the international 2014 WFTDA Playoffs in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, came down to the final seconds and was decided by only three points. In the end, a Canadian team took home the 1st Place trophy from the first ever WFTDA tournament held in Canada – the Rideau Valley Roller Girls of Ottawa, Ontario.

Detroit Wins Division 2 Playoffs in Duluth

At the end of a weekend packed with upsets and fiercely competitive games that came down to the last jam, the Detroit Derby Girls, of Detroit, Michigan, emerged on top of the 10 Division 2 teams competing in Duluth, Minnesota, Aug. 15-17.
