The WFTDA is excited to announce the addition of 14 new full member leagues and 11 new apprentice leagues from around the world. The new apprentice class includes the first WFTDA affiliate on the African continent and the first in Chile, continuing the worldwide expansion of the sport.
“The WFTDA is excited to add another continent to our roster of international leagues. This is an exciting time for the international growth and accessibility of roller derby, and we expect this global development to continue. WFTDA will support these new locations with translations of The Rules of Flat Track Roller Derby and other resources, local mentorships, and, of course, providing international and local competitive pathway. We'd like to extend a big WFTDA welcome to both Chile and South Africa as they enter the Women's Flat Track Derby Association.” - Juliana Gonzales, WFTDA Executive Director
The WFTDA is extending full membership to 14 leagues today, following their successful completion of the WFTDA Apprentice Program. The new Class C members can now enjoy the benefits of full WFTDA membership, including competing in sanctioned games and becoming eligible for rankings. This group of new members includes leagues in Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany and the United States.
Congratulations to:
This month’s new Apprentice Program members hail from Chile, Finland, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States. The WFTDA Apprentice Program is designed to serve as a steppingstone to full WFTDA membership, to ensure that leagues are well prepared for the transition to a WFTDA Member League.
Congratulations to the new apprentice members!
Real. Strong. Athletic. Revolutionary.
