New Officiating Skills Assessments Available

October 2, 2014

The WFTDA Officiating Committee, working in collaboration with officials from the Men’s Roller Derby Association as well as WFTDA officials from around the world, is releasing a new Officiating Skills Assessment to assist leagues with assessing officials against a set of standard criteria.

The documents position-specific checklists that outline assessment metrics for an official’s readiness in categories like rules knowledge, skating skills and hand signals/communication.

Officials are not required to use these documents, and they are not intended to replace the WFTDA Certification programs or Officiating Clinics curriculum. They are tools for leagues and officials to use to continually track improvement and to communicate an official’s readiness for a certain level of play at any given time.
