Boston Roller Derby of Boston, Massachusetts, USA had a tough time finding a foothold in during Game 7 of 2016 International WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs Montréal against the Sun State Roller Girls of Brisbane, Queensland, AUS; the Swarm truly lived up to their name, attacking from all sides to keep Boston from a track onslaught. The Swarm led by 77 points at one point, but the Massacre rallied to end with the narrowest of margins in the last jam of the game — one point. The fifth game of the day at the 2016 International WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs Montréal featured two teams that were very familiar with each other. The Detroit Derby Girls from Detroit, Michigan, USA have faced the London Rollergirls from London, England, UK three times and have come up short each time, with the last game going 345-79 in favour of the Brits in March of this year. Detroit, however, looked strong in their upset of Sun State Roller Girls earlier today, and they were definitely looking to improve on their previous showing against the team from England. Ultimately, London was too strong and performed narrowly better against the American team than they had in March, winning 384-77.

It was a bit of a David vs. Goliath matchup from the start, with the bottom seeded Rocky Mountain Rollergirls, fresh off a nail-biter win earlier this morning, taking on the second-from-the-top seed Texas Rollergirls.
But, with a strong showing against the seventh seeded Finnish challengers, Kallio Rolling Rainbow, in Game 1, Rocky proved they shouldn’t be counted out early.
