Kallio Rolling Rainbow

Kallio Rolling Rainbow is a roller derby league that was established in 2010 in Helsinki, Finland. We share a love for this athletic lifestyle, and our core values are tolerance, community, and the desire to be a positive force in the lives of each of our members as well in our neighborhood.

Roller derby is one of the rare sports that welcomes anyone regardless of age, gender, or body type. Kallio Rolling Rainbow’s fundamental value is to accept people exactly as they are.

Kallio Rolling Rainbow has its roots firmly in local street culture, colored by underground influences and a strong self-deprecating sense of humor. We know our image might be controversial, but we use it to raise even difficult social issues. Ultimately, our goal is to celebrate the existence of every color of the rainbow.

Our league’s home is the Kallio neighborhood of Helsinki. In the winter, we train at the Pasila Sports Hall. We also have practices next to the harbor in a building named Bunkkeri until they start rebuilding it. In the summer, we train outside for example in the leafy green park of Väinämöinen rink in Töölö. KRR organizes fresh meat courses twice a year; in the spring and autumn.

Our top team is the Kallio All Colours. Keeping them on their toes is the B-team, Kinapori Fistfunkers. The B-team’s best players are constantly rising into the ranks of the A-team. Latest addition to our rainbow family is the C-team also known as Piritorin Ässät. We also have two intra-league teams: the Fisters of Mercy and Les Bombas.
