Championships Seeding Drawing to be Held at Salem Playoffs

This weekend, in addition to seeing the final three teams qualify for the 2013 WFTDA Division 1 Championships, roller derby fans will also learn what the first round matchups at Championships will be. The seeding will be unveiled live on WFTDA.tv Sunday evening.

The top seeds from each of the four Division 1 Playoffs get a first round bye, while the #2 seed from each playoff bracket faces a #3 seed from a different playoff bracket. The winner of those games will go on to play a #1 seed from a third playoff bracket.

The competition bracket features four segments. Teams' positions in the bracket will be decided by random drawing. During the seeding drawing, one number will be drawn for each Division 1 Playoff location to determine those teams' position in the bracket and, therefore, the first round team match-ups for the tournament.

The seeding drawing will be broadcast live on WFTDA.tv this year from the Division 1 Playoffs in Salem, Oregon. Stay tuned to the live tournament stream following the Salem Playoffs First Place game, which begins at 6 p.m. PDT. Immediately after the awards ceremony, we'll be selecting the 2013 Championships seeding. WFTDA.tv viewers will get a first look at the bout match-ups for what is sure to be a highly competitive, exciting Championship tournament.
