Uproar on the Lakeshore kicks off this Friday, Nov. 5, when the top three teams from each of WFTDA's four regions battle it out for the Hydra Trophy and the coveted title of WFTDA Champion.
No team has ever won back-to-back Hydras. Could the Oly Rollers be the first to do so in 2010? Will the Gotham City Roller Girls rise again? Will the home team, Windy City Rollers, keep the trophy in Chicago? Might this be the year for the mothers of modern roller derby, Texas Rollergirls, to hold the Hydra high once again? Several bets have been placed on West Region Champions Rocky Mountain Rollergirls, but let's not forget about the Kansas City Roller Warriors, B.ay A.rea D.erby Girls, Mad Rollin' Dolls, Philly Roller Girls or the Cinderella stories from Minnesota Rollergirls, Nashville Rollergirls and Charm City Roller Girls.
All 12 teams have a fighting chance to claim the Hydra trophy for their league.
