February 2014 Featured Skater: Buster Skull

In 2010, Buster Skull founded the Salisbury Rollergirls when she was only 18 years old, and was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma the following year. Through her fight and victory, and the continuing success of her league, Buster Skull has shown how a skater’s determination, team spirit, and passion – and the support of the derby-verse – can help them to overcome many challenges. January 2014 Featured Skater: Bloody Mary

It is hard to imagine contemporary roller derby and the WFTDA without this month’s featured skater. Bloody Mary is one of the “godmothers” of roller derby, as a founding member of the Texas Rollergirls, and the WFTDA’s first ever Executive Director. Not only has Bloody Mary been active in modern roller derby from the very beginning, she continues to dazzle us with her talent and passion both on and off the track. October 2013 Featured Skater: Kamikaze Kitten

Kamikaze Kitten believes that she has had the benefit of growing not only with her league (the London Rollergirls), but also with the sport of roller derby. She knew from her very first practice that roller derby was for her, and we couldn’t be happier about that. Now in her seventh season with the London Rollergirls, Kamikaze Kitten has taken advantage of the opportunity to travel the roller derby world as a skater for London Brawling, Team England, and also as a coach. September 2013 Featured Skater: Phoenix Bunz

Competitive, determined, and analytical, Phoenix Bunz brought skills and experiences from a variety of different sports to her start in roller derby. And that was only the beginning. She has contributed--both on the track and off--to the incredible success of the Ohio Roller Girls in the past few seasons, having lead them to the first ever WFTDA Division Playoffs in Fort Wayne, IN, where they came in 2nd Place and will head to 2013 Championships in Milwaukee, WI.
