Indianapolis’s Naptown Roller Girls, #4 in the North Central Region, will host North Central Playoffs, the final playoff tournament of the 2011 WFTDA Big 5 in preparation for the WFTDA Championships in Denver, Colorado. Monumental Mayhem will take place Oct. 7-9 in Indianapolis, Ind. at the Indiana Convention Center.
“To have our team playing in the Playoffs while we host it in our amazing city has been a dream of mine for years,” founding NRG league member Amber Jones, aka Strawberry Jam, said. “It’s an absolute honor to bring in such high-level derby from our region. I can’t wait for Indianapolis derby fans to experience a WFTDA tournament.”
Indianapolis’s Indiana Convention Center, the venue for this year’s North Central Region Playoffs, is new for the Naptown Roller Girls. Located at the heart of the Circle City, the venue is close to the White River, as well as other places of interest in the area.
“The Naptown Roller Girls are happy to show everyone what the Circle City has to offer,” Jones said.
The lineup for the 2011 North Central Region Playoffs features the relatively new WFTDA members, The Chicago Outfit, from Chicago, making their debut in WFTDA tournament play. A spot in North Central's top 10 opened up when the Omaha Roller Girls moved from the North Central Region to the South Central Region. The Ohio Roller Girls also qualified for Playoffs for the first time.
