The 2016 International WFTDA Division 2 Playoff Tournament in Lansing, Michigan will be held at the Summit Sports and Ice Complex.

Women's Hall of Fame

A must-see for all female roller derby enthusiasts is the first museum dedicated to women’s history in the U.S., the Michigan Women’s Historical Center & Hall of Fame (213 W. Malcolm X St. Lansing, MI 48933). Witness nearly 300 inductees past and present, history exhibits, and the Women's Walk brick patio. You can even pick up a gift for your derby wife at the fair trade gift shop! The Museum is open Wednesday-Saturday, noon-4 p.m. and the first Sunday of every month 2-4 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for students (6-18), and free for children age 5 and under.

Looking to roll around and drop in somewhere away from the track? Grab some air at Mason Skatepark At Bond Park (111 N. Rogers St. Mason, MI 48854), featuring 12,000 sq. feet of concrete bowls, ramps, and rails designed by skatepark innovators Team Pain. There’s even a tournament-sized outdoor hockey rink. Better yet--the park is open to all skill levels and is FREE to skate!

Michigan is known for its beautiful nature reserves and parks. You don’t have to go far to enjoy the outdoors--Lake Lansing Park South is just 4.5 miles from the Summit Sports and Ice Complex. With a historical carousel preserved from its days as a popular amusement park, this 30-acre lakeside beach offers swimming, fishing, sand volleyball, horseshoes, pedal boat rentals, tricycle track, picnic grounds, as well as a free Friday Night Concert Series at the Band Shell concert stage in the summer.

Botanical Gardens

WJ Beal Botanical Garden

The Michigan State University campus spans most of Lansing, and features the oldest continuously operated university botanical garden of its kind in the U.S. The W.J. Beal Botanical Garden is home to over 5,000 species, which are organized enonomically, systematically, and thoughtfully landscaped in ecological groupings. The garden is open at all times with free admission, so a visit to this beautiful landmark is a no-brainer. The WJ. Beal Botanical Garden is located in East Lansing at 330 W. Circle Drive (next to the MSU Library).

Abrams Planetarium

If you’re into all things galactic, check out Abrams Planetarium--located at 755 Science Road in East Lansing. Public planetarium shows are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 P.M., and Sundays at 4:00 P.M. Admission prices for all shows are $4 for adults, $3.50 for students and seniors, and $3 for children 12 and under. Abrams Planetarium does not accept credit or debit cards, so bring cash!
