The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association Board of Directors is excited to announce that, after an extensive search, it has selected Cassie Haynes as its new Executive Director.
Cassie brings a dynamic and varied background to the WFTDA. Her early career included positions in the legal and public health fields and in 2012 she founded an athletic event production company, primarily serving athletes in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Cassie has experience managing both nonprofit organizations and a professional sports league and is also a competitive athlete, holding previous powerlifting records in Pennsylvania, California, and nationally.
“The Board of Directors is excited by the energy and fresh outlook Cassie will bring to the WFTDA,” President Amanda Hull said. “Her diverse professional background, entrepreneurial experience, and passion for athletic communities will make her a natural fit to lead the WFTDA.”
The search process yielded an extraordinary set of candidates. The WFTDA Board would like to thank everyone who applied, as well as the search committee that dedicated their time and energy to reviewing candidates.
Cassie offers experience within the nonprofit, government, and private sectors. Her most recent position was Director of Business Operations at Green Health Cube, where she oversaw a corporate restructuring process. She previously served as Director of Team Operations for the National Pro Grid League, where her responsibilities included drafting league policies and rules for competitions.
"I'm incredibly lucky to be joining such a fantastic leadership team,” Cassie said. “I look forward to serving the membership as we work together towards the bright and incredibly exciting future of women's flat track roller derby."
Cassie lives with her wife, 4-month-old daughter, and their two dogs in Los Gatos, California. The WFTDA’s official headquarters will remain in Austin, Texas.
