Revised Rulebook Release Scheduled for Dec. 1

August 12, 2016

The WFTDA will release a revision to The Rules of Flat Track Roller Derby on Dec. 1. This release will include some changes to game play as voted on by the WFTDA Membership and will be presented in a new format for better readability.

The new format will include The Rules of Flat Track Roller Derby Casebook, which complements the rule set and presents detailed scenarios and guidance for skaters and officials. The Casebook is presented in an easily updatable format so the WFTDA Rules Committee can add further guidance and scenarios as needed.

The WFTDA will also release updates to the WFTDA Officiating Standard Practices, WFTDA Official Hand Signals, and WFTDA Officiating Verbal Cues on Dec. 1. All WFTDA-sanctioned play will be required to utilize the updated documents starting Jan. 1, 2017.

Localized versions of these documents will be released on or near that same date.

The Rules of Flat Track Roller Derby, The Rules of Flat Track Roller Derby Casebook, and all associated officiating documents will be presented in a new mobile-friendly online format on wftda.com and in a downloadable PDF. Thanks to the increased accessibility of our improved mobile online format and ability to provide faster and more accurate updates, the WFTDA will remove the outdated Android WFTDA Rules app from the Google Play Store and the Amazon App Store on Aug. 15. In addition, hard copies of the WFTDA rules booklet will be discontinued on Dec. 1 upon publication of the most recent rules revision. Remaining WFTDA Rules booklets are now available on the WFTDA Store at a discount.
