Roller Derby: Why We Skate

April 30, 2010

NASHVILLE, TN - Roller derby promotes healthy living, offers a competitive outlet, and is a source of camaraderie among strong women from all walks of life. It’s also a lot of a fun.

Every rollergirl has her own reason for competing. For me, it’s pretty much my calling. I’m a natural athlete, born to compete. I have a twin sister I’ve been competing with all my life — it’s ingrained! I love sports, I love strategy, and I love victory. I love overcoming odds and I just love a good game.

When you come to a bout you’ll see women skating for the pure love of the sport. These women spend at most 10 hours a week practicing and working out as a team and even more on their own time. Not to mention the untold hours the men and women of NRG spend to keep us running. I’m proud to be a member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association and to skate with the fine ladies of the Nashville Rollergirls.
