The Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center was abuzz Saturday night as local favorites Jacksonville Rollergirls’ New Jax City Rollers (#9) took on Denver Roller Derby’s Mile High Club (#5) of Colorado in the 8PM semifinal game Saturday. This battle with a bracket spot in the 2015 WFTDA International Championships on the line was supercharged from the start. New Jax kept Denver on high alert the entire game--which ended in an upset only the hosts seemed prepared for.

In the last game of the consolation bracket on Saturday, the Tampa Tantrums from Tampa, Florida, USA took on Steel Hurtin' from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Tampa came into the game higher seeded at #5 compared to Steel's #8 seed. The winner of this game would be playing for 5th Place Sunday afternoon. Tampa had already played and won against Glasgow in the morning and looked ready and eager to take on their opponents. Although Steel stayed within striking distance for the entire game, they were unable to take the win. Tampa moves on to the 5th place game with a 197-174 win.

Detroit Derby Girls (Seed 6) of Detroit, Michigan, USA went into Game 10 of the 2015 International WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs Jacksonville with a 1-1 tournament record after a loss to Jacksonville RollerGirls Friday and a win over Pikes Peak in the morning. Charlottesville Derby Dames (Seed 10) of Charlottesville, Virginia, USA had the same record after upsetting 7 Seed Glasgow Roller Derby and losing to Denver Roller Derby on Friday.

Atlanta Rollergirls (#13) took on the top-seeded contenders London Rollergirls (#4) in the first semifinal game of the 2015 WFTDA International Division 1 Playoffs in Jacksonville, competing to claim the first spot in the Championships bracket. These two former East Region teams last played each other in 2013, with the team from Georgia taking a close win, 184-169.

In the second game of the second day of Florida's first WFTDA Playoffs, we saw Tampa Roller Derby from Tampa, FL, USA, take on Glasgow Roller Derby from across the pond, Glasgow, Scotland, UK. Coming in as the #7 Seed, Glasgow was upset by #10 seed, Charlottesville Derby Dames, on the first day of the tournament and was looking for a win. Tampa came to this game after losing to higher-seeded rivals Atlanta Rollergirls. They needed to win this game to leave the tournament the same ranking they came in, fifth. Although WFTDA fans love new-to-playoffs teams like Glasgow, this crowd was definitely behind their fellow Floridans. Tampa did not disappoint, winning 284-100.
