6.2 - Blocking to the Head or High Blocking

Hitting an opponent above the shoulders is prohibited (see Section 5.2.2).

No Impact / No Penalty

6.2.1 - Contact to the head that is secondary or which results from legally initiated contact.

Major Penalty

6.2.2 - Any block with initial contact landing above the shoulders.


The following egregious acts making contact with the head of an opponent or above the shoulders will be automatic game expulsions and can be punished as a multi-game suspension (see Section Expulsions will be issued for a conscious and forceful attempt to commit any of the following egregious acts, whether or not the attempt was successful:

6.2.3 - Any contact with the head of a skater not wearing a helmet.

6.2.4 - Intentional, negligent, or reckless contact above the shoulders.

6.2.5 - Pulling of the head, neck, or helmet.

6.2.6 - Choking by the helmet straps or otherwise.
