AUSTIN, TEXAS – To celebrate the love of the game for skaters and die-hard fans, and to introduce the sport of women’s flat track roller derby to a whole new Internet audience, the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) is proud to announce its online broadcasting website, WFTDA.tv. Launched with the collaboration of WFTDA member leagues and Blaze Streaming Media, WFTDA.tv presented its first broadcast May 12, 2012. WFTDA.tv is dedicated to bringing audiences the finest in WFTDA roller derby action.
In an effort to strengthen the integrity and image of the sport of women’s flat track roller derby, WFTDA.tv is redefining the broadcast standards to maximize enjoyment for derby fans around the world. WFTDA.tv will initially offer fans live coverage and archives of monthly bouts from late spring through WFTDA Championships in November. The WFTDA.tv destination will offer the convenience of one location for all content produced by WFTDA and Blaze Streaming Media, serving as a broadcast network catering to member leagues and their community of viewers.
WFTDA.tv will offer its spring and summer season of live bouts—including over 20 bouts during the East Coast Derby Extravaganza, live from Feasterville, Pa.—for free, with event archives available on-demand and at no charge to viewers after the events.
Early Season Dates:
Live viewing of the 2012 Playoffs and Championships tournaments—four regional playoffs followed by the championship tournament—from September to November, will be available via pay-per-view. The Playoffs and Championships’ pay-per-view costs have been lowered by nearly half the rate of the 2011 tournaments. At only $12 per tournament weekend, WFTDA.tv will also offer a free audio boutcast for all pay-per-view bouts and free on-demand archives following the events. All-inclusive 2012 Playoffs viewing packages will be available for $50, and Championships will be $20 for the weekend.
Playoffs and Post-Season Dates:
Proceeds from WFTDA.tv will be reinvested into the organization's programming and will help to continue building initiatives that strengthen WFTDA’s common goals, always with the promotion and development of the sport in mind.
