WFTDA Statement on FIRS Recognition of Roller Derby

The Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) is committed to the promotion and advancement of women's flat track roller derby, including international competitive pathways.

We are staying apprised of recent developments regarding the Federation Internationale de Roller Sports' (FIRS) acknowledgment of roller derby as a skating discipline.

At this time, we're evaluating what this means to our organization and member leagues. As the governing body for the sport of women's flat-track roller derby, WFTDA understands our association's leadership is essential to continuing advancement of the sport in a manner that adheres to the core values of the movement which led to the modern version of this sport.
