The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) held elections for three positions on its Board of Directors during the organization’s 2012 annual meeting, held May 25-27.
Alassin Sane of the Atlanta Rollergirls was elected to a two-year term as President. Within the WFTDA, she previously served as a mentor for apprentice leagues and worked on the game sanctioning committee. She also served on the Atlanta Rollergirls Board of Directors for three years, serving as oversight for the league’s WFTDA delegation.
Former president Grace Killy, of the Brewcity Bruisers, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, remains on the board, now as Member Ex-Officio. She served one term as president. Prior to joining the board, she served many roles in the Games Committee, concluding her stint there as the Games Officer.
Secretary Siouxsicide Bomb, of the Denver Roller Dolls, was re-elected to a two-year term. Prior to becoming secretary, she also served the board as Interim Vice President and was the WFTDA Human Resources Manager, helping get the Apprentice Program off the ground.
This election also marks the end of an era for the WFTDA. Crackerjack, an original member of the WFTDA Board and its President from 2007 to 2010, has retired from the board. For the last two years she has filled the role of Past President, now called “Member Ex-Officio.” Crackerjack is the founder of the Mad Rollin’ Dolls of Madison, Wisconsin, and now skates with the Texas Rollergirls in Austin.
Vice President Lorna Boom and Treasurer Loco Chanel, both of the Rat City Rollergirls in Seattle, Washington, were elected in 2011 and have one year remaining in their board terms.
