The WFTDA is excited to announce the release of the first official translation of the Rules of Flat Track Roller Derby. The March 1, 2014 edition of the rules is now available in French, as well as English.
“This document will be an important resource for skaters, officials and fans from French-speaking countries as the sport continues to expand worldwide,” WFTDA Executive Director Juliana Gonzales said.
The translation was carefully vetted to ensure that the translation does not inadvertently create a different understanding of the rules in different countries. Translators also worked to create the first version of a WFTDA French terminology that reflects the game as it’s played on the track.
“Publishing official translations of our rules has long been a goal of the WFTDA, but the quick pace of changes to the official English rules makes it challenging,” said WFTDA Managing Director of Games Karen Kuhn. “We are currently working on official translations in Spanish and German and hope to release those in the near future.”
The French translation represents the hard work of a team of volunteer translators:
The WFTDA thanks them for their hard work!
