May 9, 2018

The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association has released several Games documents to support tournaments, including the 2018 International WFTDA Playoffs and Championships and WFTDA Continental Cups.

WFTDA Sanctioning Policy (update): The uniform section of the WFTDA Sanctioning Policy has been updated to align with the WFTDA Tournament Skater Uniform Requirements, to clarify color and contrast requirements, and to add the requirement for teams to provide Jammer Referee armbands and wear arm numbers. In addition, a team failing or refusing to sign an IGRF may be held liable for IGRF late fees or other penalties. These requirements take effect immediately.

WFTDA Tournament Skater Uniform Requirements: The WFTDA is publicly releasing the skater uniform requirements for all WFTDA Tournaments for the first time. These requirements are mandatory for all WFTDA Playoffs, Championships and Continental Cup tournaments. League-run tournaments may also choose to enforce the same policies at their events. However, the enforcement of the WFTDA member patch may not be enforce at league-run events, only Cups, Playoffs and Champs where WFTDA-selected GTOs are present. Teams are now only required to have a white uniform and a uniform in a color other than white.

WFTDA Tournament Games Requirements and Policies: The WFTDA is publicly releasing the games requirements for all WFTDA Tournaments for the first time. These requirements are mandatory for all WFTDA Playoffs, Championships and Continental Cup tournaments. League-run tournaments may also choose to enforce the same policies at their events. There are no updates to the games policies from those used in 2017.

WFTDA Tournament Structure and Seeding Process: The WFTDA is releasing the structure and seeding process for the WFTDA Playoffs and Championships and WFTDA Continental Cups in a policy document for the first time. These processes have been updated to reflect the needs of the 2018 and 2019 tournament structures.

In addition, the WFTDA Risk Management Guidelines have been updated to fix the following issues:

  • Clarify that the Penalty Box cannot be located in the infield
  • Fix a typo of the zones listed in Section 2.3
  • Adjusted visor requirements to allow for tint as long as the visor is transparent. Mirrored and iridium visors are not permitted because they are not transparent on both sides.

All of these documents can be found in the League Resources section of wftda.org.
