WFTDA Officials Certification Announces Changes to Requirements for Level 1 Certification

March 19, 2015

The WFTDA Board of Directors has approved a change in the requirements for Level 1 of WFTDA Officials Certification. This level has traditionally required attendance at a WFTDA Officiating Clinic and verification of passing an Interleague Officiating Clinic exam. Due to difficulties with creating this exam, the clinic exam requirement will be waived. This decision extends retroactively to include both 2014 and 2015 Officiating Clinics.

Officials who have attended a 2014 or 2015 WFTDA Officiating Clinic will be eligible to apply for WFTDA Level 1 Officials Certification if they meet the other requirements for this level.

Level 1 requirements for NSOs are:

  • Verification of a passed WFTDA NSO Certification Rules and Procedures Test
  • Documented experience in five WFTDA Sanctioned and/or Regulation games
  • A signed and submitted WFTDA Officiating Code of Conduct

Level 1 requirements for Referees are:

  • Verification of a passed WFTDA Referee Certification Rules Test
  • Competed Skating Assessment
  • A signed and submitted WFTDA Officiating Code of Conduct

Officials who wish to apply for Level 1 Certification must fill out the application form located in the Officiating section of WFTDA.com, check the boxes for the new requirements, and submit it to the appropriate Certification Committee. The committee will verify the application and send a confirmation to the applicant upon verification.
