The WFTDA is excited to announce that it has filled two newly created staff positions, Marketing and Communications Manager, and Director of Broadcast Operations.
“These two positions bring full-time staff support to two very important areas of the WFTDA’s mission,” said WFTDA Executive Director Juliana Gonzales. “Adding these talented professionals to our staff will allow the WFTDA to more easily build and expand the programs developed by our hard-working volunteer crew.”
The WFTDA has selected Jenna Cloughley for the role of Marketing and Communications Manager. The Marketing and Communications Manager position will develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans as well as manage and execute the full mix of marketing communication activities including WFTDA events, website content, social media, advertising, and email marketing.
This is the first WFTDA employee dedicated to marketing, and Jenna is also the first employee of the WFTDA based outside of the United States.
Jenna, or “Mia Culprit,” comes to the WFTDA with over 13 years of experience in managing multi-level marketing campaigns for brands such as BMO Bank of Montreal, ING Direct Canada, and Mongrel Media. A founding member of Toronto Roller Derby, she spearheaded the 2009 Whip It! Premier at the Toronto International Film Festival, and participated in the organization of the 2011 World Cup in Toronto.
The WFTDA has also selected Erica Vanstone as the Director of Broadcast Operations. The Director of Broadcast Operations will manage and grow WFTDA.tv and video-based media projects within the organization, to create a broadcast program that elevates production standards and promotes the athleticism of the sport of women’s flat track roller derby.
Erica, or “Double H,” comes to this position as the previous volunteer Head of Broadcast Operations with the WFTDA. She earned a BFA from NYU Film and has worked as a coordinator for films such as "Lady in the Water," and "The Happening," and has worked as a producer and editor for Philadelphia public television. She is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and got her start in roller derby as an announcer for Philly Roller Girls in 2007. She has been on the Board of Directors for Philly Roller Girls for more than six years and has gone from volunteer to official and is now a skater.
Erica has guided the WFTDA's broadcast project since its founding in 2010. She has worked tirelessly to develop WFTDA.tv in an effort to improve the standards for video production at WFTDA events. Erica is also a PA and broadcast announcer for the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, and an in-arena emcee with the Arena Football League's Philadelphia Soul.
