Gotham, Jet City Take Division Championship Titles

Gotham Girls Roller Derby of New York won their third consecutive Women’s Flat Track Derby Association Championship Nov. 10, the team’s fourth overall Championship title and the first under the new WFTDA division structure that went into effect this year. The Jet City Rollergirls, of Everett, Washington, won the inaugural Division 2 Championship game.

The 2013 WFTDA Championships was a three-day tournament featuring 12 Division 1 teams—including the first appearance by a non-U.S. team, the London Rollergirls – and four Division 2 teams. Held at the U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the tournament play kept fans on the edge of their seats as the top women’s flat track roller derby teams in the world displayed their skill and ferocity on the track.

The tournament MVP, selected by the WFTDA as someone who exemplifies the Real. Strong. Athletic. Revolutionary. values of our organization for her overall athleticism and leadership, was Bloody Mary of the Texas Rollergirls.
