May 9, 2016

The WFTDA is opening applications for Games Tournament Oversight (GTO) positions at the 2016 International WFTDA Playoffs. The GTO provides oversight at tournaments and multi-game weekends to ensure a fair and well-managed competitive event and is responsible for sanctioning, skater advocacy and issues resolution. This position is required at all WFTDA Playoffs, Championships and WFTDA-Recognized Tournaments.

The GTO job description and WFTDA Playoffs selection process are outlined in the WFTDA Games Oversight (GTO) Policies and Procedures. Any tournament wishing to train individuals for the GTO role may use the WFTDA GTO Training Curriculum, which includes the Oversight module and Sanctioning module. Completed training will be registered with the WFTDA via the Google submission form at the end of each module and a list of accredited GTOs will be available on wftda.com in the coming months.

The application for individuals who wish to serve as GTOs for the 2016 International WFTDA Division 1 and 2 Playoffs and Championships is now open and closes May 31, 2016.

The 2016 International WFTDA Tournament season includes two Division 2 Playoffs in August, four Division 1 Playoffs in September and Championships; Nov. 4 to Nov. 6 in Portland, Oregon. For information on the 2016 WFTDA Tournament schedule visit Tournament Central.

The eligibility requirements for GTOs are as follows:

  • This position is open to Active or Retired Skaters, or Officials. Applicants with a Skater background are preferred.
  • Candidates must complete the GTO application form.
  • Candidates must provide a link to a skater resume, or the WFTDA Games History document may be submitted if used for GTO assignments.
  • Candidates must have completed Oversight module and Sanctioning module of the GTO Training Curriculum by May 31, 2016.

The WFTDA Games Officer will review all applications and past performance, and will select a pool of candidates for that year’s tournaments. The Board of Directors will vet the candidate pool selection. Once final seeding of tournaments is complete, the WFTDA Games Officer will assign GTOs to tournament locations based on GTO availability and experience, team affiliation, staffing considerations, and travel costs.
