While the top 12 teams in WFTDA vie for the coveted Hydra this weekend, Union Vacations owner, Robin Patrick Little is putting the final touches on the first-ever MVP award package. “The Princess in the Palace,” awarded to the 2011 Championships MVP, will consist of a four-day vacation to one of the all-inclusive, 5-star Palace Resorts in Cancun with round trip air and transfers for two.
“This is our first year offering up the Princess in the Palace trip to the MVP, and hopefully it will be the beginning of new tradition. I would like to create other awards for leagues and individuals in the future,” Little said.
In the past, Union Vacations has helped organize travel arrangements for 2009 and 2010 WFTDA Championships in Philadelphia and Chicago. The company has also recently started working with junior roller derby leagues in Portland, Oregon.
“Our goal at Union Vacations is to help all the leagues in the WFTDA save money with their travel costs so they can afford to play more away bouts and grow this fantastic sport. We are currently working on a travel page for WFTDA member leagues to find all of their derby travel discounts, and for personal vacations too,” Little said.
