About WFTDA

Women’s Flat Track Derby Association, Inc. (“WFTDA”) is the not-for-profit international governing body of women’s flat track roller derby. WFTDA’s mission is to promote and foster the sport of women’s flat track roller derby by facilitating the development of athletic ability, sportswomanship, and goodwill among member leagues. The governing philosophy of the WFTDA is “by the skaters, for the skaters.” The WFTDA website introduces you to the organization and member leagues and educates you about the rules of roller derby.

WFTDA has created this privacy policy in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to your privacy. We have adopted the following policies to safeguard your personal information.

This privacy policy applies to content hosted at wftda.com and/or wftda.org (WFTDA website). WFTDA is not responsible for the privacy policies, practices, or content on websites that may link to or be linked from the WFTDA website. WFTDA does not sell email addresses and under no circumstances do we collect any personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, health, or sex life.

What Information our Website Gathers About You

WFTDA collects user-submitted account information such as name and email address to identify users and send notifications related to the use of the service. WFTDA also collects user-submitted profile information such as gender, age, location, etc. if you provide that information to us.

Information Explicitly Provided by You

When you become a registered user on the WFTDA website, you will be asked for some general identifying information. We gather contact information (like your email address), demographic information (like your gender and age). We will only use this information in the course of providing our service to you.

Personal Profiles, Bulletin Boards, Chat Rooms, and Forums

You may be given the option of creating a profile with some personal, but non-identifying, information to complete your profile. This information will be viewable by other members.

Profile information as well as first name, usernames, and/or profile photos are displayed to people in a user’s personal profile. A user’s e-mail address is not shared or displayed within a user’s personal profile unless the user explicitly provides their email address in their personal profile. Users may communicate on the WFTDA website with each other without disclosing email addresses, such as on bulletin boards and discussion forums. WFTDA may use a user’s email address to send weekly updates or news, but you may opt-out of receiving email of this type (as described below).

If you use a forum, bulletin board, chat room, or other chat tool on the WFTDA website, any personally identifiable information you submit there can be read, collected, or used by other users of these forums, and could be used to send you unsolicited messages. WFTDA is not responsible for the personally identifiable information you choose to submit in these forums. You are also responsible for using these forums in a manner consistent with the terms and conditions set forth on the relevant forum website.

We use links throughout our website to give you the opportunity to contact us to ask questions, request information and materials, register or sign up for events, or provide comments and suggestions. Website Purchases

All payment information is stored in a secure server and sent to a third party intermediary for processing. This information is used to bill you for those products you choose to purchase. Before entering your financial information, you will be transferred to a secure server to ensure that your transaction is secure. This ensures that your information is encrypted and cannot be read by others when you initiate your order. You will know you are in secure mode when the tiny padlock icon — located at the bottom of your browser — appears “locked.”

Surveys

From time-to-time we may conduct surveys. Participation in these surveys is completely voluntary and you therefore have a choice whether or not to disclose this information. “Email this Page” Feature

If you use WFTDA’s “Email this page” feature to send a copy of that page to someone else, your email address will appear as the sender of the email. Both your email address and the recipient’s email address will not be used for any other purpose.

In such situations we will never disclose information that will be used to personally identify you. WFTDA will use uploaded pictures of users in it’s personal advertising of the website.

How You Can Correct or Update Your Personal Information

WFTDA users may modify or remove any of their personal information at any time by logging into their account and accessing features such as Edit Profile and Account Info. 

You can always change your registration information by selecting “account status” from the navigation bar at the bottom of the Personals.  You can always change your member profile by selecting “edit profile” from the navigation bar at the bottom of any page on WFTDA.

Security

While we do not, as a rule, moderate or monitor private exchanges, we reserve the right to do so if we suspect users of being under 18 or of using our service for the purpose of solicitation or any other violation of our Terms of Service. We reserve the right to edit or delete any communication and/or pictures on a public area of the website.

Your WFTDA account is password-protected. This website takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. We use industry standard measures to protect your information that is stored within our database. We limit the access to your information to those employees who need access to perform their job function such as our customer service personnel.
