Boom Town Derby Dames

Wasilla AK

Boom Town Derby Dames is a 501 (c)(3) non profit organization that was founded in July 2011. They currently have a board of directors, 7 committees organized by committee heads, and a monthly league meeting for quorum votes and discussion. Every two weeks, the committees meet to go over plans and structure ideas for the league. Boom TownDD is fully skater run and operated.

The BTDD Season starts in September (preseason) and runs until the beginning of June. Alaska weather and sunlight really mandates their schedule, since it's nearly impossible to keep Alaskans inside of buildings to attend bouts in Summer months. Their bouting venue is the Curtis D. Menard Sports Complex in Wasilla, AK, with practices at the Borough Gym in Palmer, AK.

Boom TownDD supports others in the community as well. They are Royal Readers for local schools, and participate in the Polar Plunge for Sertoma annually. They also help with the Boys and Girls Club with their annual fundraiser event, St. Pats in the Mats. Boom TownDD also assists the local firefighters with their Fill the Boot campaign to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Boom TownDD participates in the Wasilla July 4th Parade and has hosted many Karaoke Nights in the Palmer area to promote local businesses and provide interaction between roller girls and community members. A member of Boom Town is also on the Alaska Derby Podcast.
