Now, you can watch all of the Big 5 tournament action right here on wftda.com!
2011 has been an amazing year already in the WFTDA--and now that we’re approaching the annual Big 5 tournament season, the action is really beginning to heat up! Beginning September 16th, the top 10 teams in each of the four WFTDA regions will compete in regional playoff tournaments for four consecutive weeks, looking for a chance to advance to the fifth annual WFTDA Championships.
This year, we're proud to announce that the WFTDA is developing its very own video streaming broadcast for the Big 5, in conjunction with Blaze Streaming Media from Portland, OR. In keeping with WFTDA’s “By the skaters, for the skaters” ethics, we’re producing and managing our own content in order to put women’s flat track derby in a better position to grow in ways that help solidify our presence in the sports world at large.
What's different this year?
WFTDA's commitment to bring you quality: We have made an uncompromising commitment to bring the women’s flat track derby community and its fans a quality way to watch all of the Big 5 tournaments right here on wftda.com. This is in line with the mission of the organization, to promote and foster the sport of women's flat track roller derby.
WFTDA’s exclusive content: Catch photos of the day, recaps and more exciting fan-based content brought to you directly through WFTDA’s own website.
WFTDA will be providing options to fit any budget: (a) a free standard-definition video feed and (b) a pay-per-view high-quality video stream.
WFTDA is excited to grow alongside our talent: For both live streams, WFTDA will be working with the Association of Flat Track Derby Announcers (AFTDA) to help train and maintain a roster of talented, dedicated mouths whose goal is to explain the strong, athletic, revolutionary sport we all know and love to fans new and old.
WFTDA is working hard to grow our sport: As WFTDA grows around the globe, it's important for us to stay connected with our skaters, staff and fans, and to help educate newcomers to the sport. To that end, we’ll be introducing some exciting new technology into both the Eastern and Western regional tournaments, with the use of Rinxter’s real-time stats and lineups. Technology like Rinxter will help us educate our community and new fans about the mechanics of one of the fastest-growing sports in the world.
Check out the difference!
